Hard tackle boxes are fine until you have to carry one any distance, and then the handle bites into your fingers and the lid pops if you set it down wrong. This is the soft-sided answer. It is a shoulder bag that swallows up to eight 3600-size tackle trays and still has room for everything that normally rattles loose in the bottom of a box.
There are thirteen pockets inside and out, and they are shaped for actual fishing gear rather than being generic. A clear zippered pocket lets you see which bag of soft plastics you are grabbing. There is a hidden zip pocket for a water bottle, side inserts, shear pockets and an integrated pliers holder, plus molle straps across the outside for hanging tools. The wide mouth and double-loop zipper pulls mean you can get in with one finger while the other hand holds a rod.
The shell is 600D oxford with a hydrophobic coating and an inner PVC layer, so spray and rain stay on the outside. Four rubber foot pads stop it sliding around a wet deck. Fully expanded it measures 17 x 10.6 x 14.17 inches with 42 liters of capacity, and the padded shoulder strap and handle make that load bearable on a long walk in. Green, khaki or black.
